Sounds good
Today there will be a little more about design. There was absolutely no sound in our game, but still the score for the sound of our game was above 1 (about 1.1, but this is already some kind of result). The soundtrack is very important for the overall integrity of the game, without it everything looks clumsy and unfinished. So we decided to do something about it.
Music has tied us
Initially, we wanted to deal with the musical accompaniment, with the songs. For some games, there are genres or even songs that fit perfectly. If you do not take the rhythm game, where the songs are specially created for a certain game, you can remember Doom and rock, they fit perfectly. In contemplative games, the music is always calm, there are a lot of natural sounds.
At the beginning, our game fits the description of pacifiers, but after a few turns, corruption appears and at least some action has begun. So the music should become more restless. The game is still calm, there are no explosions or other special effects, but for the contrast of the moment, we decided to take a still soothing, but a little more unsettling song. In the future, we will add a few more songs, because listening to the same song over and over will get boring very quickly.
Rustles and other little things
After that, it was necessary to give the actions taking place in the game sounds. The player will arrange the cells constantly and rather quickly, so it was decided not to give this sound (at least for now), otherwise a cacophony could happen. The rest of the player's actions should be accompanied by sound, as if certifying the player that exactly happened was supposed to happen. For example, building structures, spawning and upgrading villages, using abilities, winning, losing, and so on.
We do not have a full-time composer, so we had to take it for free from the Internet, sorting through many options. Everything was checked, there are no intellectual property violations (I hope, if there is, excuse me, colleagues, we will have to mortgage the houses).
