Proper Devlog #3

Update results/

It’s time to talk about update results. We had an update by the way, probably should have told you that sooner. On the other hand, it was enough time to conduct more (experiments on humans)  tests with the latest version. And they turned out to be pretty useful.

I would like to split key points on whether they were noticeable in gameplay of people with at least some gaming experience or completely without it. At least this time none of them tried placing tiles in spots they are not supposed to be placed in(literally everyone that I’ve seen playing before tried this). I hope illumination of proper places implemented in this update at least helped with this. While the inexperienced public had problems with basic controls of tile movement, which is understandable and could be expected, so called gamers encountered more delicate problems: dissonance between drag and drop type of control attached to tiles and single\double tap control of abilities. I was expecting a misunderstanding of their purpose and effects, but not controls. Anyway, information was noted and hopefully will be used.

Another thing that I want to talk about is slightly disconnected from development itself.

Community and team management/

(or interacting with people as we have no community right now)

To put it simply. We are biased, obviously. We know and understand the game better than anyone else possibly can. Therefore some fresh perspective is required to evaluate various features. Until this point I asked my friends to play and (almost)quietly watched. However, sooner or later I will run out of people uncommon to this project and then what? We need a dedicated tester or someone like this.

Finally, small rage talk about my team(not like they(or anyone) read these devlogs anyway).  BibleThump

Once I was asked to write a CV and I said something like “I am here to write code, not text”. And here I am, writing logs and managing twitter completely alone : (  I feel like a community manager at this point, though I hadn't planned to be one/
